Outreach and Consultation

The UNDS outreach strategy emphasizes the importance of establishing and maintaining open and continuous dialogue with stakeholders, including other Federal Agencies, State water program offices, Coastal Management Program representatives, and Tribes. The DoD and EPA consider stakeholder involvement a valuable opportunity to facilitate information exchange and discuss concerns.

During the consultation meetings, the Navy, EPA and USCG inquire about stakeholder interests and concerns and use this input to refine technical approaches. The Navy and EPA began consultation meetings in Phase I and are continuing the process in Phase II.
